Natural Hypnotic Trance in Your Daily Life

Stage Hypnosis- Is just entertainment - D. Keast Sister Earth Wellness

Recognizing The Natural Hypnotic Trance in Your Daily Life.

Hypnosis; the word often conjures images of swinging pendulums, theatrical stage performances involving a stage hypnotist commanding people to “Sleep!” in a booming voice causing the subjects to fall into a deep, mysterious state of altered consciousness, where without hesitation they accept suggestions like hop on one foot or quack like a duck.

But is stage hypnosis, self-hypnosis & clinical hypnosis even close to being the same sort of thing

Hypnosis, with its mystique and often misunderstood nature, encompasses a range of techniques used for various purposes. From the dramatic displays on stage, to the quiet introspection of self-hypnosis and the focused of therapeutic effect of clinical hypnosis, these applications share a common foundation but diverge significantly in their goals, methods, and ethical considerations.

·

  • Stage Hypnosis: Entertainment First, Helpful Hypnosis Second

While stage hypnosis demonstrates the power of suggestion and the human mind's capacity for altered states, it's important to remember that it's a form of performance art, not a scientifically validated therapeutic technique. The people who participate in the show have a specific expectation about what will happen & they expect to be hypnotized in an entertaining way & so that is what happens.

·

  • Self-Hypnosis: A Helpful Tool for Personal Growth and Relaxation

Self-hypnosis is a technique individuals learn to induce a state of focused attention and heightened suggestibility in themselves. It allows individuals to access the wisdom of their subconscious mind and work towards personal goals, manage stress, and improve overall well-being.

·

  •  Clinical Hypnosis: Focused Attention with Guided Healing

Therapeutic hypnosis, also known as hypnotherapy, is the use of hypnosis by a trained and certified professional hypnotherapist to address various issues by accessing the vast healing power and wisdom of the person’s own subconscious mind. It’s a powerful tool used to help patients overcome problems, achieve their goals and improve their overall well-being.

The truth is that trance-state is not some rare or exotic phenomenon, but a commonplace human experience that you have already encountered throughout your daily life.

That's right. You've likely entered a hypnotic trance state multiple times today without even realizing it, in fact you may even be in a trance state while reading this article.

So, what exactly is a hypnotic trance-state? Simply put, it's a state of focused attention and heightened suggestibility, often accompanied by a decrease in critical thinking and an increase in relaxation. It's a state where your mind is more open to accepting ideas and suggestions, whether they come from an external source (like a hypnotist) or internally, from your own thoughts and beliefs. There is no "on/off" switch; trance state exists on a spectrum, and we move in and out of varying degrees of trance throughout the day.

Keep in mind that even in a state of suggestibility you are still yourself & you are still in control, your mind can still accept or reject suggestions, you cannot be made to do things, that you do not on some level, actually want to do.

Here are a few examples of how you might experience hypnotic trance in your daily life:

  • 1. Losing Yourself in a Good Book or Movie: Ever been so engrossed in a story that you completely forgot about your surroundings? or you had an emotional reaction to something that happened in the book? You were in a hypnotic trance. Your attention was intensely focused on the narrative, and you were likely experiencing the world described in the story, and receptive to the emotions and perspectives of the characters.
  • 2. Highway Hypnosis: That feeling of zoning out while driving on a familiar stretch of road? That's a trance state. Your subconscious is handling the mechanics of driving while your conscious mind drifts, leading to a decreased awareness of the immediate details of your surroundings, while still knowing how to get to your destination.
  • 3. Daydreaming: When your mind wanders off to imagine different scenarios and possibilities, you're experiencing a self-induced trance. Daydreaming allows you to explore creative ideas, process emotions, and rehearse future events in a safe mental space.
  • 4. Repetitive Tasks: Have you ever started a routine task like washing dishes or folding laundry and realized you've been doing it for several minutes without consciously thinking about it? This is another example of trance-state. Your conscious focus knows how to perform the task at hand without even thinking about it, allowing your subconscious to take over.
  • 5. Listening to Music: Music has the power to evoke strong emotions and transport us to different mental states. When you're deeply engrossed in a song, your mind is more open to its suggestions, creating a heightened emotional experience.

What if we could demystify hypnosis and, more importantly, what if we could harness its potential in our everyday lives: promoting personal growth and self- healing?
